Katingan Mentaya Project’s activities are varied and most of the time move at a fast pace in order to fulfill time limits and handle unprecedented situations, such as forest fires. As a result, Katingan Mentaya Project can’t afford to slow down nor stop, and that is what our Logistics Team makes possible. The Logistic Team are people that make viewing towers, basecamps, support our field staff and keep all activities running every day. After working in the Logistics Department in the manufacturing industry for several years, I Gede Widyana, or closely known as Gede, started his journey with Katingan Mentaya Project in 2017, in which he applies his unique abilities and passion for his career to his role as a Logistics Coordinator.

Fast forward three years, and Gede still brings his love for logistics to the workplace every day. “I consider myself to be detail oriented. I like the flow and processes, so logistics and project supply management seemed like a good fit for that skill set,” Gede says. Logistics is certainly a fast-paced, detail-oriented work that demands strong communication and multitasking. But according to Gede, it’s not logistics itself that makes him so passionate about his career choice. “I like it because it’s rewarding,” Gede says. “It feels nice to put in hard work and see that it helps our team and also visitors.”
As a Logistics Coordinator, Gede is in charge of supervising and coordinating the logistical operations of Katingan Mentaya Project’s activities. That means his responsibilities vary from logistics, transportations, infrastructures, basecamps, radio communications, to managing project stock, supplies and the flow of transportation.
To cover all his work in one day, Gede usually starts his mornings with team discussions on the day’s schedule, transportation arrangement, and the flow of several project activities. These morning updates are crucial as it provides the team with much needed information and support, as no two days are the same for the Logistics Team.
Though the job may be tiring, Gede has never failed to keep up with his work’s pace. Taking short breaks throughout the day when needed, Gede has also relied on his team of hardworking staff. “It’s important to be a good listener and understand the challenges faced by the teams, so you can constantly improve processes and ensure that everyone works well together,” Gede adds.
