Katingan Mentaya Project has opened a new office in downtown Sampit with an open plan workspace and locally-sourced furniture

The office, that was officially opened on Wednesday, August 14 th 2019, is located in downtown Sampit, Central Kalimantan. The plan to open a new office was motivated by the advancement of technology and more mobile workstyles, hence the adoption of an open plan workspace to emphasize collaboration and teamwork and increase productivity since employees can share ideas and get frequent feedback from other teammates. While Katingan Mentaya Project’s continued commitment to local empowerment motivated the use of locally- sourced furniture for the office’s interior.

By providing workplace flexibility, an open office environment gives Katingan Mentaya Project the agility to meet evolving business needs and accommodate today’s unpredictability and rapid change. Given the higher number of group- based work, Katingan Mentaya Project has included more spaces that accommodate small meetings, while still considering one’s ability for concentration. Katingan Mentaya Project’s new office offers functionality and comfort with great emphasis on wellness by adding amenities in a variety of adjacent activity spaces and opening sightlines to let natural daylight in.

Locally-sourced furniture include rattan chairs from Sampit woodcrafters, produced from sustainably grown rattan by Terantang Village’s rattan farmers. While most of the desks are also locally manufactured by local woodcrafters.

As with any change, Katingan Mentaya Project’s new workplace will also require some conscious adjustments and embrace of what’s new. With that consideration and input from fellow colleagues and employees, Katingan Mentaya Project has established a “Guidelines for Working at One World Place” to better help the adaptation to the new workspace.
