15 participants from Bantian Village, Serambut Village, and Satiruk Village took part in the training conducted from February 15th to 18th, 2021. Yohanes Taka, the Area Coordinator of KMP’s Forest and Village Community Empowerment for Pulau Hanaut Selatan was also in attendance. “The program is not only trains village government and communities to map areas, but also helps in clarifying the status of land ownership in each village”, said Taka “As a follow-up from the program, Katingan Mentaya Project, along with the village government and the local community, will take coordinates related to village administration and spatial planning in order to clarify the boundaries of the concession area between KMP and surrounding villages," Taka continued.

Meanwhile, the Head of Pulau Hanaut Sub-District, Ir. H. Eddy Mashami. MM, have also reacted favourably to the training. "In particular, this training will emphasize how to understand participatory mapping, mapping techniques, the validation of maps, how to implement follow up plans and participatory mapping in the field, while better ensuring agreement between villages regarding territorial boundaries,” Mashami explained.
One of the participants in the training activity, H. Amadi, Head of Bantian Village, admitted that he was greatly helped by the training. "We have never received training on map-making of village areas before, this will certainly help develop various development programs in our village," he concluded.
