East Kotawaringin Regency Government Appreciates KPHP Cooperation with PT Rimba Makmur Utama Regarding Management of Forest Areas.
The Government of East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim) appreciates the cooperation between the Central Mentaya KPHP Seruyan Hilir and PT Rimba Makmur Utama regarding the management of production forest areas.
"This is a very good form of effort. Which can provide non-timber forest income again, but other commodities that are more photographic," said Deputy Regent of Kotim Taufiq Mukri, Tuesday (1/29/2019).
With this, Taufiq hopes that the handling of the forests in Kotim can be better and the utilization will be more optimal. In addition, it certainly implements the economy of the community and regional income.
"This form of cooperation is the utilization of production forests, so that later it can be planted with various types of plants other than oil palm. The ultimate goal is the welfare of the community," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Kalimantan Forestry Service, Sri Suwanto expressed his hope that the parties commit to building understanding, information similarity and creating synergy in managing production forest areas.
So that sustainable production forest management will be realized and beneficial to the surrounding community.
"With this, I hope that it can be utilized to the greatest extent possible. Which is PT RMU can use the forest properly. The most important thing is not to plant oil palm and a number of other plants that are not allowed," he said.
While the Head of Central Mentaya KPHP Seruyan Hilir, Abdurrahman Hakim revealed this memorandum of understanding was the starting point in developing mutually beneficial partnerships government, private and community groups in spatial concepts.
Because at KPHP there are facilities which are referred to as certain areas which can be managed together according to their potential while still taking into account the applicable provisions.
"This is a form of our cooperation so that forest management can be utilized as well as possible and produce a great impact for the community and local government," he explained.
Meanwhile PT Rimba Makmur Utama President Director Dharsono Hartono wants to realize the restoration of the ecological function of tropical peat lands as an area of carbon sequestration and storage and sustainable sources of forest products through forest restoration activities, management, protection of sustainable natural resources and the development of partnerships with parties, and communities local.
"Collaboration with KPHP is a starting point for developing regional potential that provides benefits to surrounding communities through a participatory process," he said.
