PT Rimba Makmur Utama Honoured for Commitment to SDGs at the 2018 Indonesia Sustainable Business Awards.
PT Rimba Makmur Utama won the Best Land Use and Biodiversity category at the 2018 Indonesia Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) which was announced on Monday (07/01/19) in Jakarta, in an event attended by a number of cabinet members. In the event the Minister of PPN / Head of the National Development Planning Agency Bambang Brodjonegoro, Chair of the Indonesian and Industrial Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) Rosan P. Roeslani and more than 60 participants from Indonesian and international companies, government officials, and the media at the Mandarin Hotel, Jakarta.
IBCSD President, Shinta Kamdani said, the Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) is the leading sustainable award platform since 2012 given to companies that carry out sustainable business practices. "SBA is not only ceremonial, but also shows leadership and creativity to innovate collectively for the sake of the future more sustainable and inclusive, "said Shinta. This year there are 60 companies involved in this activity starting from the initial registration, selection, to determination. This number is up 40 percent from the previous year.
SBA gives awards to companies through assessment in practice with methodologies that assess processes and performance in 11 categories, including sustainable strategy and management, labor, community, energy management, water management, waste and material management productivity, and supply chain management. The SBA event was held by a partnership between the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), Global Initiatives and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Each competitor in this activity has completed a comprehensive interview, filled out a questionnaire and was assessed based on the company's sustainability vision, strategy, and management of the social environment. Winners are selected by the panel board namely cross-industry experts including IBCSD, Editor-in-Chief, and PWC.
