The KMP consistently supports educational efforts both in and around the work environment, one of which is by providing educational scholarships to its employees' children.
Education is an integral aspect in everyone’s lives, equipping us with enough knowledge, skills, and information for the real world. For this reason, in order to assist employees and the community in getting access to education, KMP has provided a number of scholarship programs ranging from elementary schools to tertiary institutions, teacher training, and repair of school facilities and equipment. This year, 7 scholarships have been awarded for children of Katingan Mentaya Project’s employees for the second year running.
Rara Syarifa, who is currently enrolling at a local vocational high school, is the daughter of Julkipli, a staff member of the Katingan Mentaya Project’s Biodiversity Team. This year, Rara is one of the recipients of the Katingan Mentaya Project’s annual scholarship for children of employees. The scholarship was first awarded in December of last year to 7 students, ranging from elementary, junior high, and high school students. The selection process is carried out through minimum grade qualifications in Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Bahasa Indonesia, all of which Rara has shown brilliant results in.
Julkipli admitted that he felt very happy and grateful for Katingan Mentaya Project’s scholarship programme. Its presence was able to ease his family's financial burden as well as encourage him to work even harder and better contribute to KMP. "I hope that this scholarship will continue to exist so that other employees can also receive its benefits," said Julkipli, "and that our children will continue to be motivated to study more diligently.
