Not only through programmes from the local Government Health Office, Katingan Mentaya Project organized a study tour programme where chosen cadres are given the chance to witness firsthand the health services offered at one of the nation’s best Integrated Healthcare Clinics. In doing so, the study tour hopes to inspire the cadres in implementing best practices to the management and service of their respective Integrated Healthcare Clinics.

The two villages chosen for the programme was Seragam Jaya Village and Mentaya Seberang. “The Posyandus were in need of thorough attention and improvement so that the activities and services given are not monotone, but creative and diverse,” said Bellini Simangunsong, Katingan Mentaya Project Public Health Specialist. 15 cadres from 3 different Integrated Healthcare Clnics were chosen to be a part of the programme and were sent to Posyandu Lily in Depok, West Java.

Thoroughout the programme, the cadres were given a firsthand experience of the Posyandu Lily’s day-to-day activities and innovations, such as crafting bags and carpets from recycled plastic, soap, or cooking oil, and self-processing various drinks.

“The experience and knowledge given from this study tour will be used to increase the experience and knowledge of our cadres in order to improve local Integrated Healthcare Clinics’ services.” said Murni, one of the chosen cadres from Mentaya Seberang Village, “We were very curious of what Posyandu Lily] has been doing to become one the best national Integrated Healthcare Clinics, and of course, our hope is that we are able to implement what they have done in our own Integrated Healthcare Clinic.”
